Concrete Floor Paint - Refinish your floors with Armorpoxy!Simple
Steps to Finishing a Floor with ArmorPoxy Concrete Paint -
Armorpoxy can be applied over any existing coating or bare floor. For best results,
we do recommend stripping off old unknown finishes or concrete paints prior to
applying as ArmorPoxy, like any coating, can only stick to what is under it. We
now carry a special
high performance stripper for this purpose. User must make sure that if applying
to existing coating that this coating must be completely flake free. If not, power
wash, and then acid etch with diluted muriatic acid. Remember, Armorpoxy can only
adhere to what is under it, so if your present coating is flaking or coming up,
it will have to be removed by pressure washing or sandblasting. For
applications requiring faster dry times or industrial or commercial heavy duty
applications we recommend ArmorUltra or Armorpoxy II.
- Bare
concrete floor should be etched with our non-acid etch kit, or diluted muriatic
acid. This gives a better, longer lasting job and better adhesion.
- We
recommend for all garage floors that have never been painted or sealed to be pre-treated
with our special
clear cement floor sealer/bonder. There have been reports of 'hot tire lifting',
but we feel that this is normally due to application errors and/or moisture. Also,
certain types of concrete can cause this problem. Some types of concrete mixes
tend to "dust" on their own. This dusting causes coatings to lift, bubble
and peel and for hot tires to easily lift it off. For maximum protection against
hot tire lifting use our Armorpoxy II or Armorfleck systems (although more expensive,
these products have been tested to prevent hot tire lifting). Armorpoxy has also
discovered over the thousands of garage applications using our products that certain
newer tire compounds can leave dark marks. This is NOT a problem with the Armorpoxy,
but with the tires themselves. In order to keep your garage looking new and gorgeous,
we recommend the use of our Tire
Parking Pads for the ultimate in long life protection and beauty. The Tire
Pads also eliminate the possibility of hot tire lifting.
- To
determine if you have a moisture problem on your floor before using Armorpoxy
concrete paint, take a sheet of clear plastic about 3 x 5 ft square. Tape all
of the edges securely to the floor with duct tape. If you see moisture building
up under the plastic then you probably have a moisture problem, and may see some
minor tire lifting, so you may have to touch up those areas every few years. If
you have moisture and experience hot tire lifting, this is not a problem with
our product, but due to the moisture, and you will have this same experience with
any other coating that you choose. Hot tire lifting is a very difficult problem
to stop, as the tires come in at over 175 degrees sometimes. Let them cool before
parking is a good idea.
- Apply two coats of concrete paint. Allow
the first coat of paint to dry for 2 days, then 2nd coat allow to dry for at least
one week before driving on it. Some applications may require longer curing times.
Higher levels of moisture in the concrete floor or in the air can significantly
affect cure time.
- If you are concerned about Armorpoxy being
too 'slippery' (it's about as slippery as a normal enamel-type paint), you can
add our non-skid additive listed on our website.
- Coverage is
approximately 300 square feet/gallon. 250-300 square feet for uncoated concrete
floors due to the 'sponge' effect on the first coat. Concrete block coverage is
approximately 200 sq. ft./gal.
- Standard colors are listed on
our website under the 'FAQ' section. Custom
colors are available.
- If you want to spray Armorpoxy, it may
have to be thinned with standard mineral spirits.
- Armorpoxy
is only available from the factory directly. Price is $63.95/gallon. Custom
colors to match any Benjamin Moore color number is add'l $79.99/gallon. Shipping
is $8.99/gallon. Lead-time 2-4 days.
- We also offer a garage
parking laser aid for 'Dead Accurate' parking of your vehicle, and door bumper
guards to protect the door edges of your car doors. To protect your doors and
bumpers we also offer parking
bumpers.
Cleaning Information Are grease stains and
dirt making your garage floor look like a pit stop at the Indy 500? Fear not.
Removing stains from a concrete floor is difficult, but not impossible. Follow
these instructions to make your garage floor look new again: Initially clean
your garage or driveway with a pressure washer of at least 2500 psi. To
clean large greasy or oily areas use our special
oil/grease emulsifier, which is a super concentrated bio degradable product
that you mix with water and then apply to the floor with supplied special brush
and rinse. ArmorPoxy emulsifier actually converts the oil out of the slab and
"floats it away" into a solution that can be easily rinsed away. Repeated
treatments may be necessary for very dirty areas. Now you are ready
to apply ArmorPoxy concrete paint to your newly cleaned floor. ArmorPoxy applied
directly to the concrete floor provides a smooth finish that resembles garage
floors found at auto dealerships. If you like, you can add our non-skid
additive to the mixture to create a better-gripping, slip-resistant surface.
Be sure to follow the product's application directions.
